After a super eventful and exciting day at Ferrari, we decide to chill out a little in Bologna today.
Bologna Marathon
We didn’t have much planned for today, which was a welcome change of pace for all of us. We slept in a little and decided to leisurely explore Bologna a little more today. When we stepped out of our apartment we were greeted by cheering crowds and a number of runners jogging past. Apparently there was some sort of road race happening in the city today and it brought a more festive feel to our exploring.
La Mela
For lunch we had read about this small restaurant called La Mella that served a very good Carbonara so we were eager to check it out. In addition to the Carbonara we ordered two pizzas and another pasta dish t share amongst the family. It didn’t disappoint and we were all super satisfied and full afterwards!
Exploring Bologna
After lunch we spent the afternoon walking through the streets and squares, wandering into the occasional cathedral. Though a majority of the time we spent shopping in different Italian clothing stores. We would stop on occasion for a “well deserved” Gelato break as well!
All in all it was a very nice day spent with family, taking it easy and engaging in some retail therapy as well!
Da Nello Part 2
In the evening, the parents were pooped and decided to stay in, opting to have some of the leftovers from our attempt at cooking an italian meal. My sister and I however, had been craving some Ristorante Da Nello ever since our first visit there. So we set out and enjoyed another spectacular meal. We started with some Mortadella and assorted bread. I had the Gramigna with cream, sausage and mushrooms and the sister had Tortellini with cream and ragu. As a second course I had breaded veal with truffle, while the sister had escalope (thinly sliced veal) with mushrooms. We shared a fresh pineapple for desert. This meal really hit the spot. I can’t recommend this place enough!
It’s a good thing we took a restful day today, because tomorrow we head to Venice!
