I’ve been recounting my adventures while not on the road. We arrived and started exploring Stockholm. We continue our trek through this beautiful city.
Stockholm City Hall
We actually walked by city hall on one of our previous days of exploring. It was actually very close to our Hotel and so we were able to visit it earlier in the morning. It’s a distinct part of the Stockholm skyline and is a grand building that reminded me a lot of Oslo’s city hall. Because we had the Stockholm Card we were able to take the tour for free and was amazed at the extravagance inside.
We were also able to climb up the city hall tower and enjoy some spectacular views of Stockholm
Royal Palace & Riksdag
Our next stop was the Royal Palace just in time to catch the changing of the Guard. Even though I’ve seen a few renditions of it in different places, I still enjoy seeing it and enjoy the ceremonious way they do it. The palace itself is very grand and we enjoyed the elegance of it.
Right beside the palace was the Riksdag which is the parliament of Sweden. Again because of the Stockholm card we were able to tour through and learn a little about the Swedish governmental process as well.
Nobel Museum
A little bit south of the Riksdag, located in Gamla Stan (old town Stockholm) we visited the Nobel Museum which houses a huge trove of information about everything to do with the Nobel awards. We spent a few hours here looking at the different exhibits and taking in all the information we could.
One of the cool things about this room is this track that runs along the roof of the entire museum. Attached to the track are these cards, each one containing information about a previous winner of the Nobel award.
As we reluctantly left the Nobel Museum we stumbled upon this swedish “food truck” called Nystekt Stromming that was serving some delicious looking fried fish in many different ways. We ended up grabbing some and it was fabulous!
