Game Drives & Cheetah!

Today we had two game drives on the schedule. One in the morning and one for the late afternoon. We were up early again, downed a quick cup of coffee and hopped on our vehicle again for another early morning drive. Unfortunately it wasn't as eventful as our previous drives so we spent a lot talking amongst ourselves and I got to know one of our travelling professors quite well! The drive wasn't...

Good bye Kruger, Hope Africa Children’s Day School, Hello Karongwe!

After the excitement of yesterday's game drive, we were eagerly anticipating the rest of the trip.  It felt like yesterday was when the trip really "started" and we were hungry for more.  Sadly we only had one full day to spend at Kruger and would be departing for a private game reserve called Karongwe today.  I didn't know why G Adventures would do this, but once we arrived, it made more...

Safari, Big 5 and Wild Dogs

We were up bright (well the sun hadn’t come up yet) and early in anticipation of our first game drive. We had a quick breakfast and met Clayton who would be our guide for the day in the parking lot with his open air vehicle. There was room for 9 so our entire group was able to fit on one. Muscles, Gimpy and I chose the highest row in the back row.  Clayton was nice enough to stock each seat...

Travel to Kruger, Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window

We started early again as we had a packed day en route to Kruger National Park where we would be doing the first of a few Safari Game Drives.  We piled into a new Quantum with Arthur and made our way out of Johannesburg.  It was a two hour drive before we made our first pit stop at a gas station. Maybe I’m just used to North American Gas stations, but this was one of the fanciest gas stations...

Wine Tour & Travel to Johannesburg

Our group had booked a full day wine tour throughout the wine lands today. In total we would be visiting 5 wineries to taste with a stop for lunch. This would also be our last full day in Cape Town before flying to Johannesburg the next day to start our Safari adventure. We started our tour at Villera Wines Where we were able to sample: Traditional Brut NV Mono Brut 2008 Sauvignaun Blanc 2015...

La Columbe, Bo-Kaap, Kirstenbosch, Groot Constantia, Cape of Good Hope and Penguins?

We had a free day before we started our official G Adventures tour. We only had reservations for lunch so the day was pretty free. We started with the complimentary breakfast provided by our hotel.  As far as hotel breakfasts go, this wasn’t bad, there was a selection of cold cuts, fruit, cereals, juices and hot plates that included hash browns, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, and assorted...
