Safari, Big 5 and Wild Dogs

We were up bright (well the sun hadn’t come up yet) and early in anticipation of our first game drive. We had a quick breakfast and met Clayton who would be our guide for the day in the parking lot with his open air vehicle. There was room for 9 so our entire group was able to fit on one. Muscles, Gimpy and I chose the highest row in the back row.  Clayton was nice enough to stock each seat...

Travel to Kruger, Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window

We started early again as we had a packed day en route to Kruger National Park where we would be doing the first of a few Safari Game Drives.  We piled into a new Quantum with Arthur and made our way out of Johannesburg.  It was a two hour drive before we made our first pit stop at a gas station. Maybe I’m just used to North American Gas stations, but this was one of the fanciest gas stations...

Wine Tour & Travel to Johannesburg

Our group had booked a full day wine tour throughout the wine lands today. In total we would be visiting 5 wineries to taste with a stop for lunch. This would also be our last full day in Cape Town before flying to Johannesburg the next day to start our Safari adventure. We started our tour at Villera Wines Where we were able to sample: Traditional Brut NV Mono Brut 2008 Sauvignaun Blanc 2015...

We started with the complimentary breakfast provided by our hotel.  As far as hotel breakfasts go, this wasn’t bad, there was a selection of cold cuts, fruit, cereals, juices and hot plates that included hash browns, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, and assorted...

Looooong Day of Travel, but we made it!

Hello from Cape Town! It took about 29 hours of travel but we finally made it safe and sound! Our travel day started out on a positive note. Jun 1st was the inaugural double daily flight from YVR to LHR and we were lucky enough to be booked on this flight! Because of the celebratory nature of the flight we were treated to a departures gate full of snacks, music and a "London-esque" theme!...

Preparing and Packing for Africa

Now with our itinerary settled, my focus has turned to preparing and packing for this trip! I have found the Canadian Government travel site useful whenever I needed to look up country specific entry requirements, amongst other miscellaneous information.  So with some quick research, I found that there were no formal visas that were required for a Canadian citizen travelling to Egypt, United...
